STTACC Chat Blog Posts

We have some exciting news to share! STTACC Chat has moved from a newsletter format to a blog format.

STTACC Chat serves as a voice for all classified staff members. We welcome the opportunity to share training opportunities including workshops, classes and conferences geared toward classified staff. Do you have something you would like to share with others? Did you attend an amazing conference recently? Do you have a helpful tip to make our jobs easier? What’s new and innovative at your college? Did you recently obtain a certification? Tell us about it! We would love to share your news with other classified staff. Please be aware that while we strive to keep posts in the submitted format, occasionally edits will need to be made.

STTACC Support for Washington State Classified Employees

Coronavirus (COVID-19) is impacting our country in an unprecedented way. We are proud to be members of the education community and understand that we all face unique challenges at this time. Your safety is a priority and as such the annual conference will be re-imagined as an online teleconference series hosted by Tacoma Community College. STTACC will continue serving the classified staff community online and look to you to know what is important to you now.

More on Change: The Heart of the Matter

February is the shortest month of the year, but did you also know it was National Heart Month on February 7.  Many celebrate Valentine’s Day on the 14th, and I would like to see just as many follow a practice of 28 ways in 28 days. This is not only a time to check our internal health, but an excellent time to accept changes in the 2019-2020 academic year.

Since announcing my replacement in September, I find myself back on the STTACC Board as Interim Region D Coordinator. Continuing education at any employee level, along with regular communication is the key and the heart of why I believe in leadership development.  As a lifelong learner, I still have something to contribute, which is one primary reason I volunteered to step in.
